We’re Getting Around!

Members of the Workgroup on Psychosocial Support of NICU Parents have been busy spreading the “good word,” getting out and talking to different professional groups about how to make things better for parents in their NICUs.

Rebecca-Chuffo Siewert addressed attendees at The Fetus & Newborn Forum in October in San Diego.  Cheryl Milford presented to the Pennsylvania Association of Infant Mental Health in October.  Carole Kenner was a keynote speaker at the University of Oklahoma Palliative Care Summit in November.  Keira Sorrells spoke to the Mississippi Perinatal Association during the fall.  Sue Hall presented in two poster sessions at the American Academy of Pediatrics annual meeting in October in Washington, DC.  Mike Hynan and a large group discussed Quality Improvement methods at the Gravens Conference in Clearwater, FL in February.

More to come:  Rebecca-Chuffo Siewert will be presenting at the March of Dimes conference in Chicago in March.  Jenene Craig is scheduled to address the National Association of Neonatal Therapists conference in Dallas, TX in April.  Isabell Purdy will present at the Advanced Practice Neonatal Nurses conference in San Diego, CA in April.  Sue Hall is addressing the National Perinatal Association’s conference attendees in April in Houston, TX.  Janeen Cross will speak in front of the National Association of Perinatal Social Workers in May in Providence, RI.  A contingent of 7 people from the Workgroup and the NPA will be leading workshops at the Vermont Oxford Network (VON) Quality Collaborative’s annual meeting in September in Chicago, IL.  We are so excited at the interest that the Recommendations have generated, and how ready NICU professionals are to embrace this “next frontier” in care that has the potential to improve both infant and family outcomes.

We are ready, willing and able to help YOU transform your NICU.  Please see our Speaker’s Bureau page to select someone who could speak to your hospital’s staff, your regional conference, or your professional group.  Just send us an email and we’ll pack our bags and be there!
