The online NICU staff education course, entitled “Caring for Babies and their Families:  Providing Psychosocial Support in the NICU,” launches TODAY, Monday, January 29, 2018, at My NICU Network!  This is a course that was created by three collaborating organizations:   National Perinatal Association, Patient+Family Care, and The Preemie Parent Alliance.  Based on the “Recommendations for Psychosocial Support of NICU Parents” (as published in the December, 2015 Journal of Perinatology Supplement) that form the basis of this toolkit/resource website, this course is like nothing else available, anywhere.  It covers all the points we recommended that staff education should include, and it does so in an engaging way that keeps the parent voice front and center.  Please see our Staff Education Course page here, and have a look at the Course Brochure here, for more details on this 7-hour continuing education course.  The course was designed for anyone who works in a NICU including nurses, nurse practitioners, physicians, social workers, psychologists (we can award CEU/CME credit to all these through PACLAC), as well as to other staff including occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech/language therapists, and even respiratory therapists, although we cannot currently offer CEU credit to these groups.  Each of the seven topic modules can be taken separately for 1 CEU/CME credit, or learners can sign up for the whole course at once.  Please have a look and spread the word!

We express our appreciation to Medela for the unrestricted support of this course, which has helped it come to life.
